What do you get?
The Demon miniature comes in two parts. The separate piece
being the left arm. The model arrived with little or no flash
on it and what mould lines there were, would be easy to remove
without destroying the surface detail. The model also comes
with a tab on the base and a round slotted 30mm base.

The model sculpted by Matt Gubser is finely detailed with muscles,
eyes, teeth, claws etc. all identifiable prior to painting.
The separate left arm fits nicely in its socket, but I would
still be inclined to pin it into place. The snug fit and alignment
of the models muscles does mean that the arm wouldn't work so
well if repositioned.

The model stands at exactly 40mm in height in its slightly
stooping forward pose.
How does it compare?
The Demon model fits in well with other 28mm miniatures. In the comparison shot we have the model alongside a skeleton from Otherworld Miniatures and a wraith from Mantic Games.
The final word.
My first experience of this miniature was seeing Tim C's painted
version (see below). I was impressed (not only with the paint
job) but with the fine detail. You can see that the detail of
the model has been painted, rather than the detail having been
painted on to the model. I also liked the simplicity of the
model. Too many demon miniatures are horned, weapon carrying,
skull draped monsters. The simplicity of this design means it
has far more uses and because it is naked with no scale references
can easily be used across other scales. I can see this miniature
being used as genetic creation in sci-fi/zombie games right
through to a large balrog style monster in 10 or 15mm scale
fantasy armies.
Overall I think this is a good miniature, well cast and reasonably
priced given its size and subject matter. Perhaps another one
in a different pose would be in order.
