What do you get?
Staunch ally, and another colourful addition to any Carthaginian
army, are the Spanish. Infantry comes in strips of 4, cavalry
of 3, but all are easy to separate. In fact the bases are
already pre-scored just for this.
Catraetii, Balearic slingers, light and heavy cavalry and (my
absolute favourite in this lot), the slightly heavier Scutarii.
All have the oval 'scutum', some are armed with spears others
have swords at the ready, and of course there's another great
command pack.
There's also a chariot included in this set though perhaps a bit late for the Punic period. Be that as it may the set is worth it just for the standing chieftain alone. That man would lead my Celtic army!
The final word.
(Ed. WillieB was sent and reviewed miniatures from Baccus range
of Carthaginians, Celts,
Spanish, Moors
and Romans. Because of the volume
of pictures to show off the miniatures I have split the review
up into the different ranges. However in each case I have left
WillieB's final world the same in each case).
I have often admiringly looked at some of those huge 6mm wargames
or dioramas at shows, but nearly always simultaneously thought
"Well, this is not for me" "Hardly any detail
on those figures and it must be nearly impossible to paint them"
I couldn't have been more wrong. I knew that Peters' figures
were very good, I simply had no idea how good. What surprised
me most was that all the figures are much more anatomically
correct than many larger scale figures I've seen over the years.
No overly large heads or grossly inflated limbs Even the tiny
spears and swords look to scale!
To sum it up, some of the nicest figures I ever had the pleasure of seeing in this scale and highly recommended.
