To support their plastic troopers EM4 Miniatures also sell conversion kits to allow you to change the troopers into command / leader miniatures. The conversion kit can either be purchased along with the plastic spues or on its own. For the kit you get 10 metal arms. 5 left and 5 right (although I realised when doing this review I got 6 right and 4 left?) didn't affect what I wanted to do with them. The arms hold either a pistol, MP5 style gun, medi kit, scanner, grenade, nothing or are pointing (perfect for a commander).

The parts fit the plastic miniatures very well. The picture shows two of the arms just pushed into the arm holes. For a snug fit you may have to file down the peg on the arm but no filling is required.

Detail on the parts is comprable to the plastic miniatures they are intended for which allows the parts to blend in well once painted.

The metal conversion kit came having been undercoated white. They still required a bit of cleaning so having them undercoated didn't really have much of a benefit. The metal parts fit perfectly with the plastic troopers but I was aware that the weaponry is set more in the present with the pistols very similar to weapons of today. The other weapon looks a lot like an MP5 and a lot less futuristic than say the assault rifle on the plastic troopers. So I think it's fair to say the command conversion kit is more Near Future than Sci-Fi. Overall though I think the idea of an add on kit for the plastic models is a good one and for just an extra £1.45 on top of the price of the five plastic troopers provides a good conversion option.

When I bought the command conversion kit I also bought the Heavy Weapons conversion kit. That kit came with metal torso's which I decided to use for the command miniatures.
