What do you get?

This set of foam trays from KR Multicase have been designed to fit into a stardard GamesWorkshop figure carry case. The standard GW case comes with three foam trays capable of carrying 108 figures. What KR Multicase have done with this set is to not only increase the number of figure compartments per tray (40 compared to 36), they have also made the depth of the tray such that you can fit in four trays rather than the three that come with the standard case. Simply put your existing case can now carry 160 figures.

Of course something has to give to get that extra capacity into an existing case or does it? The reality is that the existing foam trays provided with the original case actually waste a lot of space. Mainly in the depth of the trays. The first test I conducted was to use the KR Multicase 40 compartment replacement tray with some standard plastic space marines. As you can see for yourself the depth of the compartments is adequate, with plenty of space for taller miniatures (Standard bearers perhaps?).

KR Multicase also provided us with samples of their replacement tray which has 50 compartments. This takes the GW case from 108 figures to 200. Once again I took the standard GW space marine figures and placed them in the tray. The only difference is you lose the height of the compartment. But as previously mentioned in other reviews the soft foam used by KR Multicase, having parts of the figures (weapons, arms, legs etc.) sticking out of the compartment is not such a problem.

The final word.

The exisitng GamesWorkshop figure carry case is a good sturdy construction popular with GW players and others alike. So on the face of it these replacement trays seem like a no-brainer and effectively sell themselves. Why would you not look to increase your carrying capacity by up to 85% per case? But I also think unless you've already invested in a number of GW carry cases you'd probably be better off going straight for a standard aluminium KR Multicase complete with the foam trays to give you the same carrying capacity from the start.
