What do you get?

From the product description: "Full Dungeon Pack - containing 5 rooms and corridors, 17 pieces of furniture, 30 monsters, 5 heroes plus some FREE rules!" This doesn't tell the full story though: the 5 rooms and corridors are actually made up of 23 individual resin components which, being modular, will fit together in an enormous variety of configurations. The terrain itself is very nicely scuplted and is cast from good quality resin, it won't require a lot of attention to get ready for painting as there are very few flash / mould lines.
The rest of the Pack contents are metal and are the normal high-quality castings from Pendraken. The contents are generic enough to get you gaming straightaway with a nice mix of dungeon-dwelling beasties (slimes, grubs) and the usual suspect denizens. Of particular note is a nice Giant who will do quite nicely as an ultimate encounter for the party of five intrepid adventurers (consisting of, again, pretty much standard-fare in composition).

The Dungeon furniture included is also very nice - and leaves me immediately wanting to get more to clutter up the place...I like clutter. The doors are very cleverly designed too - when assembled they act as a kind of clip which drops over the walls, holding the dungeon pieces together.

A further bonus is the inclusion of some nicely printed rules: Dungeon World by Stephen A.Gilbert; these are the updated 2nd Edition rules and are in A5 format together with a couple of printed-card Hero and Monster Stat sheets for easy reference during play. The rules themselves look well-written, are nicely laid out and have an "old-school" feel to them; they also include a section on solo play.

Finally, Pendraken have included a handy contents sheet which usefully shows an example layout for the Dungeon.
How Does it Compare?
It's hard to compare this set - there's simply nothing else like it on the market! In relative terms to RPGs though, where 28mm is the 'norm', this is great - nicely detailed terrain, figures and accessories and certianly enough to start playing pretty-much straightaway...although with a good paint job, these will really come to life.
